Members are hereby summoned to attend a meeting of the Recreation and Environment Committee, at the Hope Chapel, on THURSDAY 24TH JUNE 2021 at 7.30pm for the purpose of transacting the business below.

AGENDA
77 To elect a Chairman for the year 2021/2022
78 TO RECEIVE APOLOGIES
79 TO APPROVE the Minutes of the last meeting held on 15th March 2021.
80 MATTERS ARISING from the last meeting:
a) Item 66 – Streetlight in the Recreation Ground car park – to report the Clerk has one quote from K&M Lighting and Balfour Beatty has visited the site. Paper attached.
b) Item 67 – To report all work agreed after February’s play inspection has now been completed apart from the hip twister stop in Foxgloves which doesn’t exist as the equipment was installed before the legislation required a stop.
c) Item 69 – Cllr Fisher to update the Committee on the community orchard.
d) Item 69 – To report one negative, and the rest positive comments, have been received about the wildflower verges.
e) Item 71 – To report all the litter bins have been replaced and one of the old ones now installed in the Recreation Ground car park (under a tree so water doesn’t collect in it).
f) To report dog poo and unsocialable dog signs are waiting to be installed at the Recreation Ground and Foxgloves.
81 PLAY EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE/REPAIRS:
To report the six-monthly play inspection is due in August.
To report the bench in Borley Way needs refurbishment (Greg to inspect and provide quote).
82 SKATE PARK
To consider displaying the poster sent by Skateboard GB. Copy attached.
83 To discuss the land behind Bewick Bridge School.
84 To report statistics received on the use of the ebikes. Paper attached.
85 To report on the findings from the playground equipment survey. Report attached.
86 To consider quotes for a bench on Spurgeons Close/Cherry Hinton Road green. Paper attached.
87 To consider further investigations of the drainage pipe under Borley Way play area.
88 GRASS CUTTING CONTRACT
To consider cutting back the hedge on the Sheppard Way/Borley Way bridge (SCDC own from their side to middle of ditch, we own the other side). RH Landscapes has quoted £60 + VAT to cut it back hard this year then add it to the contract (no charge).
It has also been suggested the railings could be repainted. Quote from Greg Smith is £595.
89 ZERO CARBON GRANT
To note that an application for the Pavilion refurbishment is being made.
90 RECREATION GROUND HIRE/USE
To report a request was received by a school for their sports day but we could not provide the facilities they required.
91 OTHER ISSUES Opportunity to report or table other ideas and issues, not elsewhere on the agenda.
92 DATE OF NEXT MEETING – 20th September 2021, 6.30pm. Venue tbc.
